Kay Bryant (Music Director, 2008-2012)
Kay Bryant has an enduring passion for music, specifically, choral and ensemble singing. She studied voice with Burton Cornwall in Connecticut and with Bill Eichorn and Therese Bulat here in Southern California. When she moved to the area in the mid 1980s she sang with San Diego Master Chorale for three years. Later, she performed with La Jolla Symphony Chorus and Palomar Chorale among others. At San Dieguito United Methodist Church, in addition to choir participation and solo work, she directed and arranged music for a small women’s ensemble called Tapestry. In 2004 she studied choral conducting with David Chase at Palomar College.
Currently Mrs. Bryant serves as Assistant Choir Director at St. Elizabeth Seton Roman Catholic Church in Carlsbad where she also is section leader and cantor. She has been Music Director of Rancho Carlsbad Choristers for the past four years and a member of Pacific Women’s Chorus from its inception.
A professional graphic designer, Mrs. Bryant recently retired from her position as art director for a small manufacturing company in North County. Her two grown daughters, Lynne and Rosalyn, reside in Connecticut with their families. She lives in Carlsbad with her husband Dave and their two kitties, Rachel and Rebecca
